Chelsea star's father has already delivered Erling Haaland transfer verdict
Tony Mount has claimed that Erling Haaland is one of his favourite players amid reports that Chelsea are keen on signing the 20-year-old

Tony Mount, the father of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, has revealed that he is a huge admirer of Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland amid continued reports claiming that the Blues are interested in a summer move for his services.

The 20-year-old has established himself as one of the finest strikers in world football since joining the Bundesliga outfit in January of last year.

He has scored 49 times in as many appearances in all competitions for Dortmund, earning links to a number of the world's biggest clubs in the process.

Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona have all been tipped to launch approaches for Haaland in the summer transfer window as well as Chelsea.

The Blues are said to be eyeing a new centre-forward ahead of next season, with Olivier Giroud reaching the twilight of his career at 34 years of age, while Tammy Abraham has struggled to hold down a spot in Thomas Tuchel 's side after featuring heavily under Frank Lampard.

The German boss has deployed the versatile Kai Havertz up top in recent weeks, but is likely to be hoping for an out-and-out striker to lead the line in advance of a renewed Premier League title bid next season.

Haaland is reportedly near the top of Tuchel's list of attacking targets, and Tony Mount has suggested that the Norway international's burning desire to score goals could be just what Chelsea need in order to ascend to the next level.

"I love Haaland, I love him," Mount told journalist Alex Goldberg during a recent interview.

"I love his attitude, I love his mentality. I love the fact he just thrives on scoring goals, and then [likes] running up to the goalkeeper and giving him a bit [of stick]. Yeah, I love him."

Although Haaland's arrival would undoubtedly assist Chelsea in troubling champions-elect Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table next season, a potential transfer approach would likely need to involve a club-record fee in order to be successful.

According to a report by ESPN, Dortmund have slapped an eye-watering £154million price tag on their star man, more than double the amount paid by the Blues to land Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.

Tuchel revealed last month that he is a massive fan of Haaland, but remained coy over the possibility of an approach, suggesting that he will look to extract the best out of his current options before dipping into the transfer market.

"I can understand your interest in the question and the interest of every fan and supporter to talk about these subjects," Tuchel told reporters when quizzed on the possibility of signing Haaland and RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, who has since agreed a post-season move to Bayern Munich.

"I am always a fan and am interested in what’s going on. But now it is February and there is a long way to go.

"As you get to know me, you will know I will not talk about other players publicly when are under contract. This is the type of respect we show to them but also to our own players.

"We think about our central defenders and strikers first and push them to the limits. Everything else will be decided behind closed doors. I’m sorry."

That's all for now from Stamford Bridge.
