Three ancient Keywords executives this day launched their contemporary studio, Arctic7.

The Austin-based outfit is already engaged on a pair of games and has secured $2 million in seed funding led by VC company Grishin Robotics and a pair of angel merchants.

Arctic7 became once founded by Igor Efremov, Mark Rizzo and Alan Van Slyke, a trio of trade veterans whose spent mighty of the previous decade together at outsourcing developer Sperasoft.

Efremov and Rizzo were co-founders at Sperasoft who had each and every previously worked at Electronic Arts. Efremov led Sperasoft as president and CEO except selling the company to Keywords in 2017, and stayed on as chief industrial officer with Keywords for about a years after the acquisition.

Beyond serving as chief working officer at Sperasoft and world operations director at Keywords, Rizzo has also worked stints with Sony On-line Leisure, NCsoft, and Trion Worlds.

Like his co-founders in Arctic7, Van Slyke worked for EA within the early '00s and ruin up at Sperasoft as chief manufacturing officer. In between, he also handled manufacturing tasks on SOCOM for Zipper Interactive and served as lead producer at Chronicle Video games on Gears of Battle.

"Mark, Alan and I catch long shared a vision of developing a company that is constructed on our non-public beliefs and ambitions," Efremov talked about.

While the company relies in Austin, Arctic7 talked about it has model groups one day of the arena.

An Arctic7 representative talked about the company has signed a pair of model deals already, one for a astronomical-scale plump sport mission with a world publisher. It's miles in talks to add extra work to its plate, and "will almost definitely be actively pursuing M&A opportunities" and additional fundraising.
